Greg Combet, the Minister for Defence Personnel, Materiel and Science, announced today a significant milestone for the SADI program with Forgacs Engineering Pty Ltd signing the 200th Skilling Australia’s Defence Industry (SADI) Agreement.

“This is a landmark agreement for both the SADI Program and Forgacs,” said Mr Combet.

“The SADI program has offered defence industry some unique opportunities, including the ability to grow the skills base in a time of increasing competition for talent and to receive reimbursement for much of the direct costs of training.”

“The Australian Government has committed over $44 million from SADI Program funds in order to address the unique character of Defence related skills. Since its inception the SADI Program has supported over 17,000 training opportunities”

“For Forgacs this agreement represents a significant commitment to train an additional 25 apprentices who will directly support the fabrication of hull modules for the new Air Warfare Destroyers at their Hunter facility.”

“The joint commitment between Forgacs and the Commonwealth to invest in this apprenticeship program allows Forgacs to grow their skills base and to provide long term employment for the young people of the Hunter,” Mr Combet said.

“As a local Hunter MP I am very pleased to announce the signing of the 200th SADI Agreement and I applaud Forgacs efforts to invest in the young people of the Hunter,” Mr Combet said.
