A five-member delegation led by Singapore Speaker Mr Abdullah Tarmugi will be visiting the Kingdom of Bahrain from 2 to 5 November 2009, at the invitation of His Excellency Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani, Chairman of the Council of Representatives, Bahrain.
The visit is part of on going efforts to strengthen bilateral relationships between Singapore and Bahrain and between parliamentarians.
The Speaker will be accompanied by the following Members of Parliament:
During the visit, the Singapore delegation will call on His Majesty Shaikh Hamad Bin Isa Khalifa, King of Bahrain, His Highness Prince Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, His Highness Shaikh Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, His Highness Shaikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Khalifa Bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani, House Speaker, Council of Representatives and His Excellency Ali Bin Saleh Al-Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council.
In addition, the delegation will also have a dialogue with some of the overseas Singaporeans based in Bahrain, visit the Bahrain National Museum and the Qalat Al-Bahrain which is an archeological site declared by UNESCO as a world heritage.
The Speaker of the Council of Representatives will host a dinner on 2 November 2009 and the Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives will host a dinner on 4 November 2009 in honour of the visiting Singapore delegation.
The Singapore delegation will leave Bahrain on 5 November and arrive in Singapore on 6 November 2009.
